I have been on weight watchers for the past 10 months and have lost 88 pounds. I have done all of this without a bit of exercise.My goal for 2009, beyond getting to a healthy BMI of 25, is to be more active by becoming a runner. I have never run a full mile in my life so this is SUPER new to me. Actually it is a bit scary to be honest with you. But as a fat kid I have always dreamed of running.
Online I participate in a WW message board called GoaD (Guy's on a Diet) and there is a daily GOTR thread (GoaD On The Run). Last month GOTR started the New Runner Wednesday thread that I responded to by saying that I wanted to start running. The one thing they have encouraged me to do to get started (besides getting a plan to follow) was to get fitted for a proper pair of running shoes as they are what comes between me and earth.
So I went to Super Jock and Jill this morning on Green lake and got fitted for my first pair of 'real' running shoes.
My next step is literally taking my first step. I will be walking for the month of January getting my legs ready for beginning the C25K program.
