Running n00b!!!

I have been on weight watchers for the past 10 months and have lost 88 pounds. I have done all of this without a bit of exercise.

My goal for 2009, beyond getting to a healthy BMI of 25, is to be more active by becoming a runner. I have never run a full mile in my life so this is SUPER new to me. Actually it is a bit scary to be honest with you. But as a fat kid I have always dreamed of running.

Online I participate in a WW message board called GoaD (Guy's on a Diet) and there is a daily GOTR thread (GoaD On The Run). Last month GOTR started the New Runner Wednesday thread that I responded to by saying that I wanted to start running. The one thing they have encouraged me to do to get started (besides getting a plan to follow) was to get fitted for a proper pair of running shoes as they are what comes between me and earth.

So I went to Super Jock and Jill this morning on Green lake and got fitted for my first pair of 'real' running shoes. My next step is literally taking my first step. I will be walking for the month of January getting my legs ready for beginning the C25K program. I look forward to making this part of my new healthy lifestyle!!!

The quote that is my signature for WW is "...let us 'strip' off every weight that slows us down, especially the sin that so easily trips us up. And let us run with endurance the race God has set before us." Heb 12:1

I have been working to "strip off the weight," now my goal is to literally RUN the race God has set before me.

More photo's from the PNW...

My candid photo's from our GoaD dinner.

PNW GoaDies

Here is a group picture from the Pacific Northwest GoaDie Dinner. We all met this past Saturday evening at Anthony's Bell Street Diner on Seattles Pier 66. It was a lot of fun to put a face, voice and name with the Screen Names that we all know.

For me the most interesting thing about the dinner was meeting people for the first time, yet having so much in common. It almost felt like a 'family' reunion.

Thank you GoaDies for being a part of my life. I look forward to meeting more of you.

Maybe next time we get together we can do it over something other than food. ;-D

We are from Left to Right: Back-Mark (MARKA1953), Linda (Awaistagain), Gavin (GAVINFLYNN), Jenn (VASHONJENN); Middle-Amanda (AGRACE.98038), Laura (GONNAB8S); Front-Al (YVRALFREDO) & Scott (DOULOSCOTT).
